Both of our universities had a great showing in the NFL draft this year. His Aggies sent double-digits players to the NFL. And my Hurricanes had 3 players go in the first round (plus 6 more, later). And our hometown Broncos picked Mr. Irrelevant.
My local alumni met at “our” bar for the first round. The Nuggets and the Avalanche were both playing, too, so the place was packed. We were the only college group there cheering on our players. Everyone else was there for a pro team. One guy even said, “I’ve never seen a college group watch the draft before.” We just wanted to cheer on our biggest successes.
