The new pantry shifted one “wall” of our kitchen out into the living space. It also covered up one of the spots where a pendant had been. The lights we’ve had there were never bright enough. (I swear, all the previous owners of this condo were up and down with the sun and never did anything after dark, no matter the season. Remember, there were no window coverings in the living room or kitchen, either.).
We need a new light that can feed off one junction. We want dimmable LEDs. We want black. I’d love it if the fixture could also shift to other colors and hues.
When we first moved in, we needed ceiling fans and some other stuff. We went to Galleria Lighting. We had a wonderful experience shopping there. In total, we spent $1500 with them.
So, naturally, that’s was our primary shop to go to this time. Building is for lease. A sign on the door says they are moving and gives an address “around the corner.” We get there, and it’s some electrical office. Out front is a bright red truck, backed in (of course), and not all the way in the spot like it’s begging to be clipped by anyone driving down the road.
They buzz us in. After the receptionist can’t answer the basic questions of “where is it?” she finally manages to get the attention of some guy who was looking at his phone and ignoring her need for help and our question. And then we learned. They closed the store “while they build” the new one. Who does that? Why would you shutter your business while you wait to build? Did you have zero warning from your landlord? Did you lay off all your staff? They have another store, but of course, that address isn’t listed on the door. I played dumb and asked “What’s a Greenwood?” when they said where it was, forcing them to use their words. This is an industrial area; it’s not like we know the geography.
Frustrated at their inability to be clear, we left to hit the next shop on our list. As we are pulling out, so is the guy who didn’t really try to explain. He gets in the badly-parked red truck. I didn’t check to find a GOP sticker, but he has all the markers otherwise.
Now, the Google listing is updated as “temporarily closed”, but it wasn’t when I searched the day before. And that second (now main) location, doesn’t even come up.
It’s okay to grow and change, but it’s imperative that you communicate with customers. If you send them to the QED Electric office, then those people need to know to expect walk-ins looking for light fixtures and ceiling fans.
Businesses that fail at basic communication, that show true colors as someone who isn’t a team player with coworkers, that have staff who park like a selfish prick, etc…, well, they risk losing customers for life.
