Day 03: Disneyland

Posted on 2024-11-292025-05-22 by Elle L

Since we had an early morning and a long day, we had breakfast in our room. It was a good start to a rough day.

We got in the wrong car. The service our travel agent booked had the wrong month and the wrong phone number. We thought we noticed in time to get that corrected. We also go no description of the make/model/color of the car or the driver’s name. Then, they were late. And no one ever called us for that ride, so I don’t think the corrected phone number went through. When we only saw one car, we wrongly assumed. The guy was nice, but the ride to Disneyland was $155 before tip. Which begs the question, why are we staying in Santa Monica if Disneyland was on our list? She even left us a free day “to wander the beach” knowing we aren’t beach people. So far, it feels like lazy planning on her part. The hotel is nice.

As everyone knows, any day at Disney is super long-ass day. Getting up early made it worse. We got to go on three rides: both Star Wars ones and Space Mountain. In fact, they messed up when our Space Mountain ride ended, so we got to go again. We rode the loop train back to the front gate where we got stuck in a parade. We tried to call the car service to get us early, but changes must be made 36 hours in advance.

Our tickets were also for the California Adventure Park on the other side. We wandered through some of that, fought through the night version of the same parade, found the monorail back to “Downtown Disney,” and found a Mexican bar with margaritas while we waited for our (correct) car. We had an excellent drive back to our hotel, where we had dinner in the room again. We were just too tired to go anywhere, even to the Mexican joint next door.

We did get another free bottle of bubbles (from one of the travel partners) to make up for the ride blunder from the car service

We both crashed early and hard….while looking forward to an unplanned day.

.

We are going to spend the first few sea days on the boat going over the plans our agent made for NZ and Australia. We need to read reviews on tripadvisor and maybe cancel or change some stuff that isn’t good or isn’t the right fit.

Blue Voters only!

This personal blog is only for people smart enough to
vote blue. If you vote/think/feel conservative/libertarian, then you are not welcome here. This site has no room for the hate spewed by those bigoted groups and anyone who supports them. (Go read a book instead; it's clear that you rarely do. Better yet, go volunteer secularly with a truly impoverished community; learn some humanity.)
