We took a Lyft one mile from our home to Union Station. From there, it was super easy to find the A Train, which we took to the airport. DIA has a lot of levels, so it got a little confusing to drop our bags with a very grumpy baggage lady and then come back to the building entry for security, but we managed that and the underground train to our terminal.

Our flight’s takeoff was “not for the faint of heart” because westbound flights need to get very high very quickly to get over the Rockies. It was the second roughest flight I’ve ever been on. But OMG at the views out the window:

But but but, our snack on the plane was (vegan!) Maui Onion pretzel twists.

Landing in LA wasn’t much better than takeoff. The short runway made for a hard “brake” as soon as we touched down.
As soon as we deplaned, I started looking for the Seven Totems of LA that are described in Season 2 of You:
- A roller blader in booty shorts
- A police helicopter
- Two starlets in same dress at the same event
- A pack of coyotes
- A dog in stroller
- An off brand super hero
- A palm tree on fire
We’ll post if we find any of them while we are here.
A very nice driver got us to our hotel….and after getting into our room, we realized we were one phone short. He called the driver and made a plan to get it back and reward him for making the extra trip.
The whole area is packed with Eagles fans for the Sunday game against the Rams. The fans were all nice enough, but many are they sporting some ugly colors. Green or Teal…they need to pick one because those do not go together.

Because we didn’t want daily maid service, we got a $30 credit to use in the hotel. This was perfect as we don’t usually want staff in our room anyway. Also, it’s our fake anniversary. We got welcome glasses of sparkling wine at checkin. And, our room was stocked with a whole bottle of it, a card, a plate of cookies and berries, and a box of truffles. Happy fake anniversary to us!

After our very good room service dinner, we walked over to the Santa Monica Pier. It’s cute and touristy, but was still a fun little walk.
