Nearly all the work is completed. All those ultra-time-consuming parts of the finishing work are done. All that’s really left is the 8 pulls.
The three days were filled with hard work, great lunches with our contractor Andrew and his electrician/carpenter Eric, swapping stories, and our joy. We could not be more pleased with their attention to detail in the work they have done. The whole set is immaculate and is a huge practical addition to our space.
We do not have enough words to brag on Andrew and Eric as much as they deserve. They were on time and polite. They protected the entire space from dust and debris. They ran the shop vac every time they used a saw or drill. They put up with us being here during the work. They consulted us when it mattered. They respected our building and the policies here. They cleaned as they went and again at the end of each day. The bid was spot-on (instead of low-balled by 25% to “win” the job, which is the new normal apparently). The craftsmanship is stellar. Both the countertop and the floor around the peninsula were unharmed despite both being pretty big risks.
We also owe a huge thanks to Gavy and BKC for the lovely work designing the cabinet to our specifications/needs, building it, and delivering it on time and in perfectly-protected condition.
She’s so glorious we might need to name her. I’m thinking Petunia or Penelope…..oooh or from Charmed: Prudence, Piper, Phoebe, or Paige? He suggested Power Tower. hm. We’ll toss a few more ideas around.

My apologies for the wonky lighting. The new pantry and the new wrap around the peninsula are the darkest black we could get, which matches a built-in shelf over the bar and our mantle, but makes for difficult lighting.
