We took our scooters and went out for breakfast a few days ago. I had the “Formidable” French Toast. It was great, but it was very sweet.
French Toast Formidable – Our already great french toast stuffed with a rich mixture of cream cheese and strawberry preserves. Unique et magnifique.
Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t finish it.
And because it was sweet, I wondered:
“Why isn’t this eggy bread dish ever presented in a savory fashion?”
Well guess what exists? I used the 12 grain bread I keep on had and traded fresh garlic for garlic powder. I didn’t have/want coriander (ew), more (dried) mustard, or microgreens. I also didn’t want another egg this time. I garnished it with tiny slivers of green leaf lettuce and some green onion. — I guess it’s a good thing I never follow a recipe exactly and am good a making do without all the ingredients.
I made 5 slices and maybe could have eked out one more piece if I had had more bread. So my next 2-3 breakfasts are set.
It’s a tad bit heavy on the oregano for me. I’ll dial that back next time. I’m also going to add sage (and maybe thyme) because this already tasted a lot like Yankee Stuffing.
It was really good. And a nice change from the sweet versions.
