Our summer road trip this year is massive, and we can’t wait to get started.
Some high points: Glacier National Park, all but a couple of the Canadian National Parks in Alberta and British Columbia, Vancouver and Vancouver Island, the Chihuly, some PNW coastal towns including where the Goonies were, Napa, more National Parks (Sequoia, Yosemite), tons of California beaches, Lake Tahoe, and then home through SLC.
Another new thing for us: traveling with friends. We met through a camping meetup and they want to do “big trips” like we’ve been doing. During the planning, we even tried to squeeze in a cruise to Alaska; maybe next year.
And, traveling with friends made us pretty dang organized. We have a spreadsheet of all our overnights, mileage and more. Here are some pre-trip stats:
- 76+ day trip
- 30 different places to stay: 26 RV parks, 4 boondocking
- nearly 120 hours and over 5300 miles (8500 km) driving the RV
- 760 gallons of gas
- 7 states, 2+ provinces, 2 countries
We prepped more food than we can fit in the freezer; what a good problem to have.
It’s a pretty packed schedule. We tried to leave down time for things like grocery shopping and laundry, but there is a lot to see and do.
As usual, we’ll delay posts by a few days so we feel safe.
