Zion Canyon Balloon loop – Part 6/end

Posted on 2023-10-142023-10-23 by Elle L

Day 20 – Santa Fe to Angel Fire NM

Our pretty little drive through Carson National Forest from Santa Fe to Angel Fire was punctuated with lots of fall.

Our campground is more of a trailer park this time. We did love the contactless check in (by text) and the fact that no one bothered us. After we settled in, we went to the one bar for dinner and to watch Monday Night Football. We were hoping to redeem our weekend with at least one win from a team we like, but the Packers just couldn’t do it.

Day 21 – cleaning out, organizing, repairs

Being in a tiny place without much to do gave us the day to start prepping the rig for winter; we’ll need to remove all food, clothes, batteries, and paper, but we can do that in Denver. We’ll need multiple trips for that in our 2-door Jeep, but we are taking her to/from both shops for winterizing/repairs and oil/filter changes, so we’ll grab a load of clothes/paper/non-perishables each time.

We took the built-in day off to tackle some minor repairs. We have also never really cleaned it out since we bought it. So, this was the day to “take inventory” of every cabinet and storage bay and make a list of the stuff we no longer need or want. It was a really pretty 65º day, so the work went quickly. We even labeled each bay with painters tape so we wouldn’t forget any of the stuff we need to take out when we get home. The rig should be a lot lighter next season; we’ll have a decent donation for Goodwill, too.

Day 22 – Angel Fire NM to Colorado City CO

Our drive started our very pretty. We took this route in ~2017 on our way back from the Carson National Forest, and we’re glad we took it again so we have it recorded.

Once we got over the pass on I-25 and north of Trinidad, it turned extra windy beyond the norm. We finally rolled into our campground where we had to deal with their chaos* and also meet a notary to sign some papers. – – * I have filed a formal complaint against the campground for (I think) violating corporate policies.

For our last night of this trip, we prepped clothes and other stuff that needs to come out of the RV. We have a priority order for each of the trips we’ll make.

Day 22/end – Colorado City to storage

The last leg to storage and loading out was pretty easy. It was a great trip and we were a little sad to put her to bed.

Epilogue

She also went to the shop for winterizing and some much-needed repairs. Next, she’s due for an oil change and some work on the engine side of things.

Blue Voters only!

This personal blog is only for people smart enough to
vote blue. If you vote/think/feel conservative/libertarian, then you are not welcome here. This site has no room for the hate spewed by those bigoted groups and anyone who supports them. (Go read a book instead; it's clear that you rarely do. Better yet, go volunteer secularly with a truly impoverished community; learn some humanity.)
