Our trips to McDonald’s are pretty rare. It’s usually when we are in a big dang hurry on the way to a timed appointment. Today may have been our last.
A while back, we went to one that was basically an indoor drive through. You can’t make your own drinks. They don’t offer any refills. You even have to ask for another napkin. You order from the kiosk and pick up your food.
Today, we went to our usual one that was not like that, and it’s been converted, too.
The only advantage to being inside is you can sit down. At a dirty table, naturally. Compared to being around the group* that was there (done eating? just sitting and talking very loudly.). I’d rather eat in the Jeep.
I wonder if all McDonald’s will be this way or if it’s just the ones in this industrial area or just the ones in the Denver Metro or ….
We noticed a Wendy’s not too far from there. We’ll try them next time we need breakfast in the area.
* The Group was all adults with special needs. The volume was from the ones that are hard of hearing and talk very loudly. I only saw one 15-passenger van, but there were at least 20 of them; they took up about 30% of the dining area. I saw one caregiver, but she wasn’t doing any caring. I’ll just bet that they get money based in part on a activities outside of their residence and sitting at McDonald’s was their “activity” for the morning. At least bring some appropriate games or puzzles or books or something.
ETA: And then, I read a fake/parody thing about employee-less McDonald’s popping up in Denver. Maybe they are trying to go viral before they unveil this way of the future. ew.
Just let me make my own drink. You can’t do it the right way for me!
